Spring Point Lighthouse, Maine

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a friend’s engagement session (she used to be one of the teenagers in the youth group at our church, but is now an adult, and almost married)!  How time flies by!  Some of you may recognize her, since she has accompanied our team intermittently as our (very gifted) second photographer.

Autumn and Richard met seven years ago at a Christian youth camp when they were both in high school.  Though they knew each other through many mutual friends, they were never very close.  Richard became a popular and fun college guy, and Autumn was quiet and still in high school, so they just didn’t connect early on.

In the summer of 2011, both Autumn and Richard went back to the same camp as volunteer staff and the sparks flew, instantly!  After camp, they started talking on the phone every night and were out on their first date within a week.  He was leaving the next month to go back to Lee University for the last semester of his senior year, but they decided they were ready to start a relationship, anyway.  Their relationship went the distance, and after Richard moved back to New England, they were able to see each other in person much more frequently!

In May of 2012, Richard took Autumn Spring Point Lighthouse, which overlooks the city of Portland.  They both love Portland and plan to have a ministry there in the future.  Richard quoted Jeremiah 29:11 to Autumn, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.  Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future.”  He said he believed that verse was true for them and their future together, and then pulled out a ring!  Autumn was happy to say, “Yes”, and they will be married in October of this year.  They are excited to start their life together, pursuing their shared passion for ministry to young adults in their church in Manchester, NH.

In case you were wondering, yes, they did lift Spring Point Lighthouse off the rocks.  It is quite a small lighthouse.

You two are so much fun together; can’t wait for the wedding!
